International Women’s Day – Think Equal, Build Smart, Innovate For Change
A woman is a very important part of everyone’s life. She plays many different roles in the society like daughter, sister, mother, wife etc. She is very caring and loving person who takes care of her family members and loved ones. She is also very responsible and hardworking. She does a lot of things for the bright future of her family and society.
She also helps her husband in the work and household activities. She is an intelligent person who is able to handle the financial situation of her family. She is a great cook who prepares delicious food for her family and friends.
Women are the backbone of every society. They are very important in all the aspects. Whether it is social or economic, they are playing a very significant role. But the world is still not accepting them as equal partners. Women are still facing discriminations and glass ceilings. But still, they are doing the best to achieve their goals in spite of all these problems.
The theme of International Women’s Day 2019 is ‘Think equal, build smart, innovate for change’, and it was chosen to identify innovative ways of advancing gender equality and the empowerment of women, including accelerating the implementation of the new United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Throughout history, the central role of women in societies has been a critical factor in social and political development, economic growth and poverty reduction.
The era of the modern state, however, brought with it the ideological separation of public and private spheres and the need for women to find a new balancing posture. This is reflected in the play by Aristophanes in 400 BCE, Lysistrata, about a group of women who organized themselves to end the Peloponnesian war, and the role of Feng Liao in China’s Han dynasty, who used her skills as a diplomat to bring peace to fractious provinces.
In the last century, we have seen a rise in the number of female leaders, including CEOs of Fortune 500 companies and heads of international organizations. Currently, there are more women in parliaments, on corporate boards and in senior leadership positions than ever before, but the world is far from reaching gender parity.
Despite the fact that women are the majority in the world, they continue to face obstacles to their full potential, such as sexual and reproductive rights; the right to choose when, how and with whom they marry; the right to live free from violence including rape, other forms of sexual violence and female genital mutilation; and the ability to make choices about their health. Until we address these issues, the world will not reach its full potential. In order to do so, the whole of society has to join hands and ensure that gender justice is upheld. This is the only way to ensure that the world becomes a better place for all. It’s time to put women’s rights at the center of global politics.
